How to choose a car hire company Jun 07

Car Hire Considerations

Choosing which car hire company depends on a lot of factors and often the determining factor is location or opening hours. The next determining factor for many companies is who do you have an account with. Finally which rental company has the car that appeals to you. With so much competition there may still be several car hire companies ’still in the frame’ so it comes down to price.

It is pretty important not to just choose the cheapest quote as that could be a false economy. To find the cheapest you need to work out what the final bill is going to be. Inclusive rates are likely to appear the most expensive but actually work out the cheapest when the rental is concluded. The inclusive rental includes necessary items such as insurance, CDW, mileage, theft protection, location surcharges and tax.. example, it is cheaper to have an inclusive rate at $25 a day than to pay $15 + 20c per km if you drive more than 32 kms!

It is often best not to book direct with a car hire comapny, but through a broker using their specially negotiated rates. Here again there are differences which you may wish to consider for instance Holiday Autos charge 100% cancellation fee whereas cheap-car-rental charge a cancellation charge equal to just one days rental.

Have you considered insurance. If you wish to use your own insurance cover check with your insurer that they offer full cover on a hired car. You should also check the cover provided and consider carefully the options given by the car rental company as an accident, particularly for car hire in USA and car hire in Canada could be very, very costly.

Before driving off make a close inspection of the car to see if it has any scratches or had an accident. The paint work should be checked but also remember to check the interior, the tyres and low down where the car might have hit a kerb. If you spot any defects report them to the check out staff and ensure that they are marked on both your copy and the car hire firms copy of the agreement. Failure to do this is likely to result in your being charged for damage caused by the previous hirer. Something you would wish to avoid.

We hope you enjoy using your rental car!

Tips Can Make Your Travel From Canada To US Safe Mar 26

If you need to cut your trip to Canada short and return immediately to the US, here are a couple of travel tips to get you safely past the borders.

When you get to the borders, a CBP officer may there to ask you a couple of questions. These are simple to answer such as your citizenship, the items you are taking back to the US, and the nature and duration of your trip.

To expedite this procedure, it’s best to make a list of the dutiable items you have with you and place all of them together in a single bag or package. If you have a large amount of dutiable items along with you, may the CPB officer will ask you to fill up a Declaration form.

Your luggage and whatever else you have with you may be subject to inspection. This, however, will only take minutes to complete with your full cooperation.

Passport Requirements for Traveling from Canada

Even if you’re a full-fledged American citizen, coming back to the US will still require you to show your passport and perhaps other similar documents for re-entry.

Dos and Don’ts for Items You Can Take Back Home

The greatest problems you could encounter when traveling from Canada and back to the US are ensuring that all items you’ve with you can cross the borders with the rest of your luggage. Last-minute travel plans usually involve whirlwind preparations but for the sake of expediency, it’s best that you take absolute care when you’re packing items.

 Be organized.

Categorize items according to their source or method of purchase. Use separate packaging for items you intend to use in business, you’ve purchased for people back home, items you’ve had repaired or altered in Canada, items you’ve purchased in duty-free shops and similar establishments, and items or assets you’ve inherited or received as gifts.

You should always have the proof of your document.

Always have the receipts with you. It is to prove that none of them have been stolen or acquired wrongly which can cause a legal problem. The receipts of the products could also be used to for tax exemptions and other incentives.

 Register in advance.

If you have items with you prior to leaving for Canada and you’re taking them back home with you, it’s important that you had them registered in advance or prior to leaving the US with the Customs and Border Protection.

Without having the proper registration, you may have to pay duty for these items even if you are not obliged to do that. Such items are usually valuable in nature like jewelry, equipment, laptops, and the likes.

If you didn’t get to register them in the past, don’t worry because you have one more way of avoiding paying duties for them. If you can furnish any documented proof of ownership as well as proof that you had them with you prior to entering Canada, you may then pass the borders safely without having any duties levied on the specified items.

 Money

There’s nothing unlawful about having a lot of money with you when you travel from Canada, but if you have over $10,000 with you then you need to register the amount with the CPB and fill up their Currency Reporting form.

 Pets

Has your last minute travel plans to Canada gifted you with a new furry friend? If so, make sure you get the CBP’s Pets and Wildlife brochure to know what requirements you have to comply with in order to return home with your new pet.

Hopefully, these quick tips can make your travel from Canada to US safe and hassle-free.

The diamond in the rough of Playa Del Carmen Mar 07

Playa Del Carmen Mexico is located in the State of Yucatan. It is just one of those special places that you can only imagine if you’ve not been there. Size doesn’t dictate influence in Colima’s case. It is the third smallest, but plays a big part in Mexico’s GNP. Playa Del Carmen, the other major city in Yucutan is not a bloated city, nor is it a tiny speck on the map. It’s not too warm and certainly not too cool.  It’s not too busy and yet has most everything. While many places sell their souls for visitors, Playa stays true to it’s origins. For example, Playa Del Carmen has approximately 5% of the hotel rooms of Puerto Vallarta to the north.

Two-thirds of those visiting are Canadian. One-third of the tourists are American, the other two-thirds are Canadian. Playa Del Carmen has dubbed itself as the ‘anti-Cancun’, and it shows. When you go out to eat the second time at a local restaurant, you may be recognized and welcomed back. A happily stated “bienveidos” welcomes you to the restaurant. Everybody hopes that nothing will change any time soon for Playa Del Carmen. A feeling which is a shared desire of the locals, who, it is reported, have for many years been reluctant to accept federal funds targeted at developing tourism in the area. Playa Del Carmen remains true to it’s roots.

Come see for yourself.  Come see the incredible and amazing Xcaret park where you will see what the Yucatan was like many years ago. Also go and enjoy a stunning adventure. It is an amazing eco adventure park and resort that is fun for the whole family! So much of the appeal here is because of the community that keeps this place afloat, come and be a part of it. It is special, it is economical, and it is open for business don’t miss out go on a Playa Del Carmen Vacation today!
