Good Information on Devon and Wiltshire Jul 16

Devon was one of the first regions of what’s currently Great Britain to get settled post ice age. There is speculation that Dartmoor was settled during Mesolithic times, about 8,000 years ago, by hunter-gatherers. Rome’s armies occupied the region for nearly a quarter of a millennium. In later times, the region turned into a frontier between Anglo Saxon Wessex and Brythonic Dumnoia, and it was absorbed largely into Wessex by the mid ninth century.

Most of the civil conflicts in England after the Norman Conquest namely, the Wars of the Roses, Perkin Warbeck’s rising in 1497, the Prayer Book Rebellion of 1549, and the English Civil War had Devon in them.
In Brixham in the mid 17th century, the advent of William of Orange started the memorable war.

Devon has created copper, tin, and additional metals from many ages ago, and the tin miners in Devon have had a nice amount of independence because of the Stannary Parliament that goes back to the twelve century, and its last recorded session was in seventeen hundred and forty eight.

Wiltshire opens the door to the western regions of the nation. Wiltshire has almost 430 thousand residents, and is considered an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s the right place to relax no matter the season. You may admire the prettiness of the gardens, or go for a stroll on the White Horse Trail where you may observe the eight white horses which are carved into the hills wander the towpath of the Avon Canal and Kennet, or have a relaxed meander through the market towns and get an actual taste of living in the countryside.
